Their already obscene fees increase year to year, around a 3 to 5% increase, on the basis of 'inflation'. Inflation my arse.
And these commercial Ah Longs don't mind spending that extra amount to 'remind' their customers to pay up. A quick calculation reveals that
Estimated students = 4000
Estimated cost/invoice = RM 0.50
Estimated postage cost/student = RM 0.30
Total cost = RM0.80*4000 = RM3200 <--that is no small amount

And, not unlike any other Ah Longs, these commercial Ah Longs charge an 'interest fee' as well.

That is RM100(A fricken hundred) once I fail to pay up before the 6th of May, and a further RM100 for every subsequent month I don't pay. What makes these commercial Ah Longs different from their ghetto counterparts is that they have more Marketing sense. There is no mention about the probability of pig heads and red paint appearing on the walls of my house suppose I fail to pay up. This gives a faux(pronounced "foe") feeling of security for the consumers.
Heck, they even have detailed Powerpoint slides, explaining each and every step, so you obviously can't use that but-my-mum-cant-read shit on them.
