Last month the Government launched a new fund worth RM10billion. Sold at RM1 a unit, and christened the Amanah Saham 1Malaysia (AS1M), it was the Government's way of 'giving back' to the rakyat. Yeah, three cheers for them!....that is if you're dumb. It's our money in the first place.
It came out in the papers that the Government was going to give out 100 free units to all freshies enrolled in local varsities. In case you didn't know, freshies are new, first year students.
Now if the Government wants to show a gesture of goodwill, and since this fund is called SATUMALAYSIA, shouldn't students from ALL universities, be it government or private get the free units?
Barisan got its arse whipped up pretty good in the March '08 General erection due to the fact that it underestimated the power of the young voters. With easier access to unfiltered and uncensored news sources, the young voters were so called "less ignorant" than the older generation of voters.
Barisan realised this, and before you know it, every Tom, Dick and Harry politician has a bl0rg and facebook account, to "get closer with the rakyat". So there, they are trying to get on the good side of the young voters. You know, give them a little "incentive" now and then, just enough for the equation "Barisan = goodies" to remain in their minds until the next General Erections.
What better way to "win over" some young voters than to feed them some cash under the veil of "Free 100 trust fund units for Local varsities".
(click to enlarge)Post Script: Just a little update. So far, only about RM1.6billion units have been sold. And if my elementary maths doesn't fail me, that means that the Government is still RM8.4billion short of its set target.

as to why you dun wind up in ipta is bcoz you join A-levels,which is also an act of not supporting the gov edu system.
so there it is.the reason why ipts students are left out.
